Naxos Tips  

Telephone: You will find almost everywhere telephone cabins. You can buy telephone cards at the OTE (Greek Telecommunication Office) or at the Kiosks. Useful phone numbers

Post office: located in Naxos town, Open Hours 08,13,30 Monday-Friday. You can buy stamps from most of the shops that they sell post cards and souvenirs and use the yellow post boxes to post your mail. In town and in tourist areas you'll find post boxes.

International Press (newspapers, Magazines, books etc) you can find in several shops around town and in the tourist resorts.

Church: Greeks are mostly orthodox Christians. When you enter a church be correctly dressed (avoid shorts, swim suits etc). In recent years more and more of the Chapels have been shut to the public to avoid the damage. In Naxos there is also a Catholic church located inside the Castro area.

Bus: The bus station is on the port just in front of the boats arrival. You can reach by bus most of the villages of the island. The bus office will give you information concerning the schedules.

Taxi: Taxi station is located near the bus terminal and the sea front. Arrange the prices clearly before beginning a trip or insist that the taximeter is on. The poor access roads are the reason for some surcharges.

Change: You can make changes in all the Banks, the Post Office & Travel offices. Usually bank and travel offers charge a 2% commission for exchange facility. In Naxos there are 5 Banks in the main town, no banks in Villages and tourist resorts. Bank Hours 08,00-13,30 Monday-Friday

Doctors: There exist a lot of doctors around Naxos that you can visit with appointment. There is also a small hospital at the center of Naxos town helping with emergencies/accidents at no Cost.

Pharmacies: Everywhere in town. Opening hours same as other shops. On Saturdays and Sundays one pharmacy remains always open.

Roads: Pay attention when you drive (especially motorbike) Roads are not in very good condition. Priorities are not always respected. There are signs on your way pointing the direction to the villages and the tourist resorts.

Shops: During hign season open everyday from 09,00 till 15,00 and from 18,00 to 21,00. Nevertheless most touristic shops and the supermarkets are permanently open and close late at night.
