Naxos Places to visit Apollonas village and the Kouros  


Apollonas was a fishing village. Located in the very northern part of Naxos it lives on tourism now. It promises a nice lunch and a view at the nice little bay. 

The biggest Kouros of Naxos (10,5m) can easily be found on top of the village. Kouros (=handsome young man) statues are made of marble, they represent gods and they are over 2500 years old. Archaeologists suppose that this Kouros is god Dionysos because of the beard and the fact that Naxos is the island of Dionysos
