Mykonos / Mykonos Beach Guide

Elia

Elia, in a distance of about 3 km away from Ano Mera, is a picturesque seaside, with crystal clear waters, which is worth visiting. Awarded from the National Beach Association and from the Blue Flag Association as one of the cleanest beaches in Greece.

There is one very good hotel on this beach as well as 2-3 tavernas. 

In the area just before Elia beach, there is a water park called "watermania" with lots of water activities (slides etc).

Kalafatis and Agia Anna
The asphalt-paved road continues beyond Ano Mera and within a distance of 6 km leads us to Kalafatis, which is a marvelous sandy beach, surrounded by a charming landscape.

There is frequent bus service from Mykonos town. By getting there you will find quite a few hotels and restaurants, which will offer you comfortable accommodation and good seafood.

In a walking distance from Kalafatis there lie the peaceful beaches of Ag. Anna and Dimasto, ideal for family holidays.

Kalo Livadi
Lying 2 km from Ano Mera, the beautiful beach of Kalo Livadi is the perfect place for those who look for a peaceful environment.  

Two tavernas on this beach offer good seafood and other greek plates.  

Buses run often from Mykonos town to Kalo Livadi.

Panormos, Agios Sostis and Ftelia
These beaches lie on the north side of the island, overlooking the bay of Panormos, which is about 7 km from Mykonos town.  

There are beautiful areas with non-organized beaches that maintain their natural color and charm attracting at the same time many tourists' attention.  

At Panormos you will find a sandy beach with crystal clear waters, 2 restaurants and a friendly small unit for your accommodation.  

At Ftelia wind-surfers will feel at home whilst it is worth attending Ag. Sostis' festival on the 6th of September.  

There is accessibility both by car and taxi. No public transport is available for any of the above beaches, which are suitable for swimming, only when there is no wind.

Paragka, Paradise and Super Paradise
Paradise and Super Paradise are the two most charming and famous beaches, that lie on the south side of Mykonos.

One can arrive there mainly with small boats (caïques) that pull out frequently during the day from Platis Yialos or by an (easy to cover) dirt road that leads to the airport and continues in the direction of Paraga and Paradise (just before Mykonos airport) reaching Super Paradise and Agrari, straight after the airport.

At Paranga and Paradise beaches you will find a camping on each of them. Also at Paraga beach there are two hotels offering accommodation in a friendly atmosphere.

At Super Paradise beach there is no accommodation offered, instead at Agrari beach there is one hotel and some rooms to let .

Platys Yialos
About 4 km from the center of Mykonos town, a very popular beach on the south side of the island and one of the longest beaches on Mykonos.

You can hire a small boat from Platys Yialos to visit other beaches, as Paradise and Super Paradise

Platys Yialos is a resort by itself, with many hotels, restaurants and small shops. There is a very good connection by bus with Mykonos town, till very late at night.

Psarou Beach
Psarou Beach is one of the most famous beaches of Mykonos . Psarou beach is sourrounded by luxury hotels fancy restaurants, tavernas, mini markets. Every year thousands of tourists and celebrities visit this sandy beach.There are beach umbrellas, wooden  loungers, the best beach service on the island, a waiting list for August weekends and extremely stringent face control - the result being the most unmixed public anywhere on the island.

Due to Psarou"s popularity, specially during August, which is the peak of high season, there is a waiting list for the sunbeds and umbreallas.  Many luxury hotels are also built around Psarou. It is located 4 km from Mykonos town (or Chora) and it is cloze to Platys Gialos. Situated within walking distance and just to the right of the Plati Gialos bus terminus, Psarou is one of the earliest established beaches. This medium size well-sheltered beach offers good accommodation, restaurants and various water sports which include a diving school.

Psarou is a more select version of it popular neighbour at Platys Yialos. Around 150m of white sand is backed by reeds and other greenery to make a very pretty and intimate spot overlooked by the stepped terraces of tavernas and hotels. Alive with jet skiers and jet setters this is a place to preen the pectorals and get a right toaster of a tan.
